RLD Chief and former Union Minister Ajit Singh was ordered to vacate the Govt. property on 9 august where he was residing from last 36 years, when his father Chaudhary Charan Singh was a member of Lok Sabha, they had been provided on 12, Tughlaq Road. Now he has been ordered to vacate that bungalow as he is not holding any power in Cabinet but he denied to vacate the accommodation and demanded Central Govt. to convert that bungalow as a memorial in the name of his father and former Prime Minister “Chaudhary Charan Singh”. According to law, in the late 2000, the Supreme Court had passed a law that no Govt. property shall be converted into any memorial. But still, he and his party supporters have been demanding to form a memorial in that bungalow.
RLD and BKU supporters protested against Central Govt. and organized “Jat Mahapanchayats” which caused traffic snarls in various parts of South Delhi, they also revolted against police in Ghaziabad, where police usedlathi charge on them and tried to stop them. They revolted by power cutting so that Central Govt. came into power.
Ajit Singh stated, “Not converting that Govt. Bungalow into a memorial will hurt the emotions of his entire father’s followers and Farmers too”. Meanwhile, opposition asked him that why he did not demand for the same in the tenure of his Union Aviation Minister. In return he question - Why not now???? Over this he also argued with a TV Correspondent that this is not the way he should be treated, this is unreasonable and unjustified.
Now, a condition occurs with Ajit Singh that he has no other supporters from national parties, neither BJP nor Congress, at last he has to take support from regional parties like Samajwadi Party.
The question is that, will Ajit Singh vacate that Bungalow in the given period of time he demanded from Supreme Court????
He answered as of now that he will soon vacate the place as he has also seen some other place to live and signed a lease over there.
This came after the Union Govt. took the extreme measure of cutting the power supply to the bungalow.
