No. This is not an anti-Modi article that I am writing. Read further!!
“We have decided that if they convert one Hindu girl, we will convert 100 Muslim girls" - Yogi Adityanath, BJP Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Gorakhpur Uttar Pradesh (The new face of BJP in Uttar Pradesh)
“The peaks of Kargil were not conquered by Hindus, but by Muslim soldiers” - Azam Khan, Samajwadi Party Leader, Uttar Pradesh
See something common here? Apart from the evident hatred for the other section of the society, or rather each other’s religion, what is common yet not so noticed is “Uttar Pradesh”. How come two leading politicians, one a Hindu and the other a Muslim, are commenting negatively about each other’s religions at the same time?
Ever since the election campaigns started, these “hate speeches” got the better of these two politicians and we have been only hearing provocative statements from them. Why? Are these two really a nationalist at heart and a staunch follower and believer of their religions? I don’t think so, and here is why!
A person who speaks so disrespectfully about another’s religion is definitely expecting similar reciprocation and disregard from the opposition for his own religion. So basically, Azam Khan, when he first spoke against Hindus, he knew that something will certainly come up in defense or offense. So, did he just speak his mind or was it all planned to instigate a BJP leader to speak against Muslims?
Similarly, when Yogi Adityanath appeared in the TV show Aap Ki Adaalat with Rajat Sharma on India TV recently, he very candidly said that conversion from any other religion to Hinduism is like coming back to your own roots (often called purification or cleansing) by the extremist outfits. He is aware of the repercussions he and his party might face after this. But are they really trying to awaken the nationalist in the people of Uttar Pradesh? No. At end of the day, it is all part of an Election Campaign!!!
Yogi Adityanath has been an MP for 5 consecutive terms from Gorakhpur in UP and creating all this communal unrest is only being done to publicize him as the new face of BJP in Uttar Pradesh. The point that I am trying to make here is not for the politicians who deem it fit & ethical to contest elections on the cost of peace and brotherhood in the country! I just want our people to understand that the way BJP brought Modi as the face of India, they are only using these tactics to make Yogi the face of BJP in Uttar Pradesh! This does not mean that Modi is personally involved in creating communal riots, but the fact is that all political parties use such stunts to unnecessarily create differences among various communities only for their vested interests.
Be it an Azam Khan, whose speeches only meant an open invitation for a Hindu extremist leader to react, or a Yogi Adityanath who is retaliating towards the Muslims with equal rigor, they are all stinking of the age-old policy of Divide & Rule in India!!!!
The purpose behind writing these thoughts is only to serve as an eye-opener for those who think that such extremists are doing a great job. BJP forgot Ram Mandir and Congress forgot Gandhi-Nehru legacy after coming into power. That’s how politics is!!!
It is okay to second a politician’s opinion (whatever it is) about any issue under the sun, but please refrain from letting those thoughts take over your yearning for peace and brotherhood. Please treat these controversial statements as news and move on. Hindus and Muslims – and people of all other religions – have been living peacefully in this country for ages now and should not get perturbed by these disturbing elements.
Jai Hind!!
