Time and again BJP has proved that the Modi sarkaar campaign has been strong enough to achieve repeated victory. Yet again, BJP has performed well in elections in Gurgaon and Maharashtra.
With a record margin of 84,095 votes, BJP candidate from Gurgaon Umesh Aggarwal won the assembly election.
Aggarwal secured 1,06,106 votes out of polled total 1,89,965 votes, While his nearest rival Gopi Chand Gehlot of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) got only 22,011 votes.
Scoring only 19,094 votes Congress candidate Dharamvir Gauba stood third Sitting MLA Sukhbir Kataria got just 15,755 votes, while Independent candidate Gaje Singh Kablana bagged 15,082 votes.
Sukhbir Kataria was sitting Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, whereas previous MLA Dharambir Gauba had also occupied ministerial position in Haryana and Gopi Chand Gehlot was Deputy Speaker in Haryana Vidhan Sabha during 2000-05 in INLD's tenure.
Aggarwal gave the credit of his victory to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leader Amit Shah. Aggarwal said, "I also owe to my supporters and workers who had registered a historical victory for BJP."
PM Narendra Modi congratulated the BJP party workers on the victory of his major popularity test in Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections.
Modi used Twitter to share and express his happiness, he tweeted: “Historic results! A matter of immense happiness & pride for BJP. I salute our Karyakartas for their tireless efforts.”
